The rumors that we first reported on last month have been authenticated by CNN. As of January 2011, Piers Morgan will replace Larry King on the network's nightly interview show. Morgan is a veteran journalist who already hosts a popular interview show in England, and his CNN program will follow a similar course. CNN president John Klein said of Morgan "He's able to look at all aspects of the news with style and humor with an occasional good laugh in the process". CNN, which is struggling for ratings, hopes that Morgan's popularity as a judge on "America's Got Talent" will bring in higher ratings, and claims that neither his "Talent" gig or his British show will be affected by his hosting on CNN.

Fox announced on Saturday that Kara DioGuardi is now officially out as a judge on American Idol, leaving Randy Jackson as the only original member of the panel. Kara was gracious and upbeat as she confronted reporters and called her Idol experience "amazing". Show producer Simon Fuller says that he will continued his professional relationship with the songwriter, who still had a one year option on her contract that Fox didn't exercise. That 7.1 quake that struck New Zealand over the weekend continues to bring more problems to theis island nation that's been struggling to break out of an 18 month recession. Officials have revealed that as many as 100,000 buildings out of 160,000 have suffered some sort of structural damage, and as many as 80 aftershocks, some as big as 5.4, have continued to rock the area. Funk band War and PepsiCo just can't be friends. Some of the band's original members are suing Pepsi for over $10 million, saying that the soft drink company never negotiated with them to use their song "Why Can't We Be Friends" in its commercial for Pepsi MAX. The conflict between the Australian Taxation Board and Paul Hogan has taken a turn for the better. Early this morning, both parties reached an agreement that will allow the "Crocodile Dundee" actor to return to America. The tax office claims that Hogan used offshore banks to conceal earnings he made after his low budget film became an international hit in 1986, but he says he did nothing illegal. Someone reported two goats on a railroad bridge between Helena and Roundup, Montana about two days ago, but the location over a little-used road was so vague that sheriff's office agents couldn't find it. Early this morning, someone else reported the same thing, but remained on location and helped humane society officials find the place. If you have a name like Frankenstein, you just have to expect trouble. Police in Cincinnati say a man named Forrest Frankenstein went crazy on August 27 at a Toby Keith concert, and after he was arrested, he threatened them and deliberately banged his own head on the inside of a police cruiser. Country singer Miranda Lambert definitely has something to smile about this morning as it was announced that she was nominated for nine CMA awards, the most ever for a female. Others who were nominated for multiple awards include Lady Antebellum with five, Lambert's new fiance Blake Shelton with four, and the Zac Brown Band, also with four.
