Australia Hopes Oprah Helps Tourism

Oprah Winfrey's announcement on the opening show of her 25th season that she would take all 300 of her audience members to Australia wasn't exactly welcome in the Land Down Under.  The Aussie federal government and the state of New South Wales are footing part of the bill to the tune of three million dollars, and many people think that with the country's current economy, it's a waste.  The Australian Tourism Minister, however, believes that this could be money well spent since Oprah's show is...

Aznavour May Finally Be Really Retiring

Legendary French singer Charles Aznavour plans yet another tour next year, but this may very well be his last.  Aznavour, who appears to be French music's version of Brett Favre, is 86 now, and his career has covered 55 years.  He said he was retiring on 1999 and 2000, did a farewell tour in 2006, then another in 2007, but kept plugging away.  This time, though, he plans to make a stop in Paris' famous Olympia theater for he first time in thirty years.  Aznavour told Europe 1 radio early on A...

American Idol Tour Scraps Dates

The American Idol summer tour is suffering from the same malaise that the TV show has had over the last few years: lost audiences.  While Live Nation, the tour organizer's spokesperson, Liz Morentin declined to give a reason for the cancellation of seven shows, Mohawk Radio sources managed to get a look at the ticket sale reports for the tour, and in the places where the shows were cancelled, American Idol was being outsold by local events at a rate of as much as two to one.  In one venue, le...
