The Swiss government freed Academy Award winning director Roman Polanski on June 12 after deciding that the United States failed to provide confidential testimony relating to the charge that he had sex with a minor in 1977. Probably just as important to this decision is the fact that the then 13-year old girl has refused to testify, saying that this event was in the past and she doesn't want to pursue the case.
