Comeback For "Man From U.N.C.L.E."

In the continuing comeback for TV shows from the 1960's on the big screen, word has arrived that "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." is the next big thing.  The show about secret agents working for an undercover United Nations agency centered around a team comprised of an American and a Russian operative, and featured a host of advanced (at the time) gadgets and lots of action and fistfights.  Mohawk Radio sources revealed that Steven Soderbergh is looking at being the director of the movie.  His name ...

Movie Marketers Worried About Advertising

Movie studios are curently spending about 70 percent of their advertising budget on television, and right now that may seem to be a bad idea.  A recent study by cable giant Comcast shows that 62 percent of respondents no longer watch television on the networks' schedule and use DVRs to record shows and watch them at a later date, or use online services like Hulu if they don't have a DVR.  For movie studios, this situation can prove disastrous since the average time between recording shows and...

Okay, on Monday we told you about that young snot Justin Bieber's plans to release a book of his "memoirs" in October of this year.  Pardon us while we puke, but now comes word from Paramount Pictures, MTV, and Island Def Jam Records that that same muppet will be starring in as well as producing a 3D "feature film" about his life and career.  What will that be, a ten minute infomercial?  Somebody needs to tell this kid that we already have an annoying, over-employed gnome who wants every job ...

Latest Twilight Film Loses Series Momentum

Summit Entertainment is a bit disappointed at the performance of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" after the July 4th weekend.  It pulled in $82.5 million to lock in the #1 spot, but studio officials were hoping that the weekend run would be the equal of what the film made since its opening on Wednesday.
