American Idol's New Schedule

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Monday, November 22, 2010, In : Television
You may recall that last August we were first to tell you about American Idol's schedule changes.   Our sources were right on as Fox announced over the weekend that the talent competition will move from Tuesday and Wednesday to Wednesday and Thursday when it returns in January.  Also right on the money was our exclusive report that the proposed show length change for the results show was unfounded.  Rumors were flying that the results show would be cut down from one hour to a half hour, but a...

Fox Says Idol Panel Is Set, Has Problem With Chief Jack

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Friday, September 17, 2010, In : Television
Fox TV says its panel of judges for the tenth season of American Idol is in place, but is refusing to divulge who it is.  Our sources tell us that the network is still trying to figure out how to handle my petition for joining the show's judges in light of how many of you wrote in to have me be on the panel.  It appears that while most of the network execs had no idea who I am, their research backed up my 41-plus year in the business, and they are worried about a scandal if Mohawk Radio fans ...

Sparks On Broadway

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Friday, September 17, 2010, In : Music
Jordin Sparks, like several more recent American Idol winners, keeps popping up just when we're on the verge of forgetting who they are.  The thing is, she's more solidly cemented into our consciousness because she keeps on working and has had a couple of CDs and top 40 songs since winning Idol.  Sparks is currently appearing on Broadway in the 2008 Tony Award winning musical "In The Heights" at the Richard Rogers Theater in New York City.  The bubbly 20-year old plays 19-year old Nina Rosari...

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Monday, September 6, 2010, In : Television
Fox announced on Saturday that Kara DioGuardi is now officially out as a judge on American Idol, leaving Randy Jackson as the only original member of the panel.  Kara was gracious and upbeat as she confronted reporters and called her Idol experience "amazing".  Show producer Simon Fuller says that he will continued his professional relationship with the songwriter, who still had a one year option on her contract that Fox didn't exercise.   Rumors still are flying that Steven Tyler and Jennife...

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Friday, July 30, 2010, In : Television
It's been a tough time for "American Idol" judges over the summer, making it hard to tell rumors from facts.  The rumors have been numerous about who the new judges will be, and some big names have been popping up, such as Jennifer Lopez (pictured), Bret Michaels, Harry Connick Jr., Donald Trump, Chris Isaak, and the latest one, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler.  What are facts, though, is that Simon left to host an American version of "The X Factor" on Fox; Ellen DeGeneres quit the show to concentra...

The Latest Name In the Hunt For Simon's Spot

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, In : Music
There's another new name in the search for a replacement for Simon Cowell's spot on the panel of American Idol judges.  Chris Isaak has met twice with show executives about the gig, The Hollywood Reporter announced on July 20, and some sources say he has the inside track in a lineup that has included Harry Connick Jr, Donald Trump, and Bret Michaels.  Bret said in a CNN Headline News interview last week that he would love to do the show, but it appears that Idol has passed him by.  It should ...

American Idol Tour Scraps Dates

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Thursday, July 8, 2010, In : Television
The American Idol summer tour is suffering from the same malaise that the TV show has had over the last few years: lost audiences.  While Live Nation, the tour organizer's spokesperson, Liz Morentin declined to give a reason for the cancellation of seven shows, Mohawk Radio sources managed to get a look at the ticket sale reports for the tour, and in the places where the shows were cancelled, American Idol was being outsold by local events at a rate of as much as two to one.  In one venue, le...
