Microsoft Back In Phone Business

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Monday, October 11, 2010, In : Technology
Microsoft is dead serious about returning to the mobile phone business after their first failed attempt.  Earlier today the company, in partnership with AT&T, showed off three of its new WP7 phones---the Samsung Focus, LG Quantum, and HTC 7 Surround, all of which will sell for about $200, the same as the latest iPhone.  T-mobile will offer the HTC HD7 and HTC Mozart in November.  The WP7 platform will allow access to the Zune music system and, in collaboration with EA Games, the ability to us...

Obama Administration Wants More Spying Abilities

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Monday, September 27, 2010, In : Communications
The Obama administration wants to hear from you---without you knowing it---in new ways.  It's drafting a bill right now, to be introduced early next year, which will enable the Feds to tap into your E-mail over the Internet and when you use wireless phones.  For a number of years, our government has been spying on us as we make phone calls over landlines with a device called Carnivore, but it's unable to break the encryption codes used by the Internet, so they want Internet providers and cell...

iPhone4 Has More Problems

Posted by ChiefJack Hawk on Thursday, July 8, 2010, In : Communications
More problems have surfaced for the expected Messiah of cell phones, the iPhone4, which in the two weeks since its release has had more defects than Toyota.  Who can forget the biggest hitch in that product, the fact that when the phone is held in a certain manner, you cut yourself off from your call?  Detractors, which are legion, had a field day with that and jokingly called it "The Death Grip".  Apple countered by saying that any phone with a built-in antenna will do that.  Funny, but my f...
